The email message will require you to click on a hyper-link, but instead of leading you to the real login https: site, the link will redirect you secretly to a fake website. Where you'll enter your ID and password. This information will intercepted by the scammers. Later they will access your account to steal your funds. To avoid a such kind of fraud, check URL of a website you have visited. The beginning of the address should have https:// , phishing fakes just have http:// (with no "s"). If you are still in doubt, make a phone call to the financial institution to verify the email. Be skeptical about any email that asks you to login through a link in the email. No legitimate online financial service will ever ask you to login this way. In 2007, an estimated $7.1 billion was lost due to phishing, viruses and malware in the United States, alone. Given that the estimated losses in 2006 was a mere $2 billion, it shows that the problem is a growing one.
